Browser statistics
The source of browser statistics that I previously used was at W3C schools, I have always looked at these with a pinch of salt, as it is the main resource for web developers and most developers have long left IE 6.0.
Today I found a great resource for browser stats called gs statcounter. The company provides tracking software which is installed on over 3 million web sites and the data is collected from billions of page views, also the data is not taken from their own site to make a nice unbiased sample.
Source: StatCounter Global Stats - Browser Version Market Share
The great thing about this is the way you can manipulate the data, you can get the graph to show in either bar chart (useful for one month samples) or a line graph plotted over many months. The data can also be restricted to geographical location, such as Europe or more specifically England.
I was amazed to see IE 6.0 was at 7.45% which in my view is getting somewhere close to being dropped from support. Normally I would consider a browser with say 5% market share very important to support but with IE 6.0 I believe this percentage will rapidly further decrease with time, as momentum builds in the web world providing links on web sites to help upgrade users of Internet Explorer.
